He also revealed that the university has got the nod of the state government to take-over and complete the on-going hostel project which was stopped about seven years ago.
Speaking at the convocation,  Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun   urged graduating students of   not to be used as thugs during the forthcoming 2019 general elections.
Amosun advised the  2,763  graduating students of the 2017/18 session to steer clear of ‘desperate politics’.
The graduands consist of 2,467, 177 and 79 graduates who finished their degree, Masters’ and Post-Graduate Diploma programmes respectively at the 13-year old university of education. About 23 of the graduands finished with first class honours.

Amosun who was represented by Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Taiwo Adeoluwa also urged striking university lectures to sheath their swords. He warned that the academic lives of the students should not be disrupted. “To please sheath their swords. We can have disagreements because we are human beings but we should always put the interests of our young ones as uppermost while we discuss these issues that you continue to agitate for.

“We should leave out work-to-rule as a tool of negotiation. Government is appealing to the staff and all concerned parties to please sheath their swords and let us return to help the community. We need peace in our campuses and progress to take Nigeria to that lofty heights that we want.

“The preparations for the forthcoming elections have begun, do not be tools in the hands of these desperate politicians. You are to get yourself engaged in meaningful and positive participation during the elections. An idle hand is the devil’s workshop so, engage yourself in positive activities during the elections,” Amosun said. Elizabeth Toyin Ajibode of the Department of Chemistry Sciences emerged Overall Best Graduating Student of the institution with 4.84 CGPA in the 2017/18 academic session.
