Morning Reflection
Contact and Connection
It was April 2009. I was returning from Delhi by flight with a monk of the RamaKrishna Mission sitting next to me and a journalist from the US sitting on the third seat . The journalist started
interviewing the monk as planned earlier.
Journalist - Sir , in your last lecture, you told us about Jogajog ( contact ) & Sanjog (connection ). It's really confusing. Can you explain ?
The Monk smiled and apparently deviating from the question asked the journalist: Are you from New York?
Journalist - Yeah...
Monk - Who are there at home ?
The Journalist felt that the Monk was trying to avoid answering his question since this was a very personal and unwarranted question. Yet the journalist said: "Mother has expired. Father is there. Three brothers and one sister. All married..."
The Monk, with a smile on his face, asked again: - "Do you talk to your father?"
The journalist looked visibly annoyed...
The Monk - "When did you talk to him last?"
The journalist, suppressing his annoyance said: "May be a month ago."
The Monk: "Do you brothers and sisters meet often ? When did you meet last as a family gathering?"
At this point, I saw sweat on the forehead ok the journalist. I wondered who was conducting the interview, the Monk or the Journalist. It seemed that the Monk was interviewing the Journalist.
With a sigh , the Journalist said: "We met last at Christmas two years ago."
The Monk: " How many days did you all stay together ?"
The Journalist (wiping the sweat on his brow) said : "Three days..."
Monk: "How much time did you spend with your Father, sitting right beside him ?"
I saw the journalist looking perplexed and embarrassed and scribbling something on a paper...
The Monk: "Did you have breakfast, lunch or dinner together ? Did you ask how he was? Did you ask how his days are passing after your mother's death?"
I saw drops of tears coming out from the eyes of the journalist.
The Monk held the hand of the journalist and said: "Don't be embrassed, upset or sad. I am sorry if I have hurt you unknowingly... But this is basically the answer to your question about "contact and connection" "( jogajog and Sanjog)". You have 'contact' with your father but you don't have 'connection' with him. You are not connected to him. Connection is between heart and heart... sitting together, sharing meals and caring for each other; touching, shaking hands, having eye contact, spending some time together...You brothers and sisters have 'contact' but you have no 'connection' with each other...."
The journalist wiped his eyes and said : "Thanks for teaching me a fine and unforgettable lesson"
This is the reality today. Whether at home or in the society everybody has lots of contacts but there is no connection. No communication .... Everybody is in his or her own world.
Let us not maintain just "contacts" but let us remain "connected"; caring, sharing and spending time with all our dear ones.

PMB 2019 BUDGET
FULL SPEECH OF PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI AT THE 2019 BUDGET PRESENTATION.
December 19, 2018
This is my last Budget Speech to the 8th National Assembly.
“Today, we will review economic development over the last three-and-a-half years with emphasis on 2018. We will also highlight the budget for 2019.
“The last three-and-a-half years have been challenging both home and abroad. Both oil and non-oil markets have been volatile. There have been disruptions in oil production in the country.
However, we have cause to be optimistic about the future. The economy has recovered from recession. We have done more work with less resources in Agriculture, Social Development and Infrastructure.
We have intervened several times to support states in the payment of salaries. The Federal Government has also sustained its efforts to curb corruption through the comprehensive cooperation of the single treasury account.
We have also made efforts to end the insurgencies in affected areas of the country. We thank the Armed Forces and Security Agencies for their efforts and sacrifices in protecting the nation.
We have also made many efforts to enhance transparency and accountability in public service delivery. Inflation has declined from 18.2% in January to 11.28% in November. Foreign Capital Influence has also improved.
Trading is a significant contributor to our country’s economy. But we must strengthen other areas such as Information Technology and Entertainment; all hands must be on deck to ensure the country succeeds.
In Agriculture, we are seeing increased investments in all areas of the sector. Indeed, we are on course to achieve good security in the nearest future.
We also prioritized the completion of already ongoing projects as opposed to starting new ones.
We have included the implementation for the National Minimum Wage. I will be sending a Bill to this National Assembly, on this.
To further support SME’s, we have set aside N15 billion, while the sum of N10 billion has been granted to BOI for this purpose.
We can all commit to the early passage of this Bill.
I thank you most sincerely for your attention. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

IGUE FESTIVAL IN EDO STATE
IGUE FESTIVAL IN EDO STATE OF NIGERIA
by Francis Omoruyi
The significance of IGUE festival/celebration to the Edo people in Nigeria (The descendants of Edo State). Christmas celebration coincides with Igue festival/celebration time, annually. Christmas is relatively recent in the Kingdom of Benin. The Igue festival started in the Kingdom of Benin by the great Oba (King) Ewuare (Ogidigan) meaning Oba (King) Ewuare the mystic, in 1440 AD.
![]() |
Items used to celebrate igue festival |
During king Ewuare's reign, there lived on the Benin-Ughoton road Ogieka (Chief of Eka Ward) who had three beautiful daughters Ubi, Ewere and Oyoyo. The news of these beautiful ladies reached the Oba (King) Ewuare in his palace. Ewuare asked Ogieka to marry his eldest daughter Ubi to him. Ogieka replied that Oba could not marry Ubi because she was too shrewish, disobedient and disrespectful. The chief would not be comfortable allowing Ubi to marry the Oba (king). He suggested that the second daughter Ewere would make a good wife and would earn respect that Queens deserve. The Oba (King) already had a number of queens in the palace.
Nevertheless the Oba (King) insisted that he would marry Ubi because she was the senior daughter and also she was very beautiful. Ubi was relunctant but had no choice. Willing or unwilling the chief of Eka (Ogieka) sent her to the palace to marry the Oba (King).
When she got to the harem in the palace, Ubi refused to cooperate with any one in the palace. She went on hunger strike and would not speak to anyone. The Oba (King) tried to encourage her. Ubi could not be tamed. The Oba (king) angrily ordered her to be sent out by the maids who struck her with burning pieces of firewood from under the cooking pot.
While they were pushing her out of the palace the maids were shouting (Ubi rie, Ubi rie) meaning Ubi leave, Ubi leave the palace.
A few months latter, Oba (King) Ewuare asked Ogieka to marry his second daughter Ewere to him because Ubi was not good to be his Queen. Ogieka agreed. According to the advice of an oracle, on the day Ewere was being escorted to the harem in the palace, the Oba (King) ordered the Ihogbe (the ward next to the palace) to join to escort her and the Osama (the high priests) to wait on her and honour her entry into the palace.
Ewere was led by the Ihogbe, dancing and singing. On entering the palace they sang the following song:-
Ewere de, kie n'Ewere
Ewere de, kie n'Ewere
Ewere de, kie n'Ewere
meaning; Ewere is coming open for Ewere with joy and celebration.
Gha kie o, Odibo gha kia aza
Gha kie o, Odibo gha kia aza
Gha kie o, Odibo gha kia aza
meaning; Who is opening the store? The steward is going to open the store house of gold for the queen

Food use to celebrate igue festival |
The women in the harem danced for joy and the whole city was in festive mood. Gifts of all kinds were poured on Queen Ewere from all the chiefs and from all parts of the city. A lot of valuable gifts were sent to the Oba (King) from all parts of the kingdom the weeks following the marriage. This was about the end of harvest of new yams and the farmers and the entire kingdom were already in festive mood.
Unlike Ubi, Ewere acted humbly, respectfully and honourably. Peace, love, good health and prosperity prevailed in the harem and in the palace. The Oba (King), the women and the maids in the harem loved Ewere.
Throughout the reign of Oba (King) Ewuare the mystic and the great, every year, he celebrated the anniversary of happy and prosperous marriage to Ewere at the IGUE festival, by inviting people from all walks of life in his kingdom. Sacrificing goats, cows, leopards and few other animals offering kolanuts and coconuts to his head, wishing himself and his kingdom good luck for the following year.
In this celebration the chiefs and the people of Benin take part. Four days after the Oba's (King's) Igue festival everyone would celebrate Igue in individual house hold and collectively by ward.
Ugie-Ewere would take place on the fifth day at the palace. Food of all kinds are cooked and some display of supernatural powers are displayed by the high chief to command respect of the people and to show the Oba (king) that they were ready for any eventuality to defend the Benin Kingdom.
Ugie-Ewere, people dance with Ebe-Ewere ( lucky leaves). And since 1440 AD it had been a prayer of the Edos not to go on a journey on Ubi's day, only on Ewere's day. Ubi's day was the day of the week that Ubi was forced out of the palace. It was marked a bad day. Ewere's day was the day Ewere was escorted into the palace, it was marked a good and happy day. Hence the Edo people would like to travel on Ewere's day and hopefully travel as Ewere did, flawless and happy (Okhien-Ewere O).
Ugie-Ewere is still one of the most important celebration that the Oba (King) of Benin celebrates annually. The actual date is not fixed. The Oba (King) sets the date and is usually in late December of each year. But it starts on the day of the week when Ewere was escorted to the palace about 1440 AD.
- If you wish to enjoy this traditional ritual of 1440 AD, visit Benin City in the month of December.

TASUED GET 420M FROM TETFUND GRANT
The vice-Chancellor of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu has said that the university has secured about N420 million grant from Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) to provide Smart Classrooms and Micro-Teaching Laboratory and also teaching and learning equipment and resources in the institution.
He claimed TASUED will be the first institution to have such ICT facility in the country.
Arigbabu said this on Wednesday at the 10th Convocation Ceremony of the institution in Ijagun-Ijebu.

He also revealed that the university has got the nod of the state government to take-over and complete the on-going hostel project which was stopped about seven years ago.
Speaking at the convocation, Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun urged graduating students of not to be used as thugs during the forthcoming 2019 general elections.
Amosun advised the 2,763 graduating students of the 2017/18 session to steer clear of ‘desperate politics’.
The graduands consist of 2,467, 177 and 79 graduates who finished their degree, Masters’ and Post-Graduate Diploma programmes respectively at the 13-year old university of education. About 23 of the graduands finished with first class honours.
Amosun who was represented by Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Taiwo Adeoluwa also urged striking university lectures to sheath their swords. He warned that the academic lives of the students should not be disrupted. “To please sheath their swords. We can have disagreements because we are human beings but we should always put the interests of our young ones as uppermost while we discuss these issues that you continue to agitate for.
“We should leave out work-to-rule as a tool of negotiation. Government is appealing to the staff and all concerned parties to please sheath their swords and let us return to help the community. We need peace in our campuses and progress to take Nigeria to that lofty heights that we want.
“The preparations for the forthcoming elections have begun, do not be tools in the hands of these desperate politicians. You are to get yourself engaged in meaningful and positive participation during the elections. An idle hand is the devil’s workshop so, engage yourself in positive activities during the elections,” Amosun said. Elizabeth Toyin Ajibode of the Department of Chemistry Sciences emerged Overall Best Graduating Student of the institution with 4.84 CGPA in the 2017/18 academic session.

PAIN OF LIFE
I look through the pain of life I see gain , though it seem not be easy but I use brain, and using the brain sometimes is not brave, so learn to wait.
I wait and try not to be in haste, as I wait my heart race, i was so afraid not to be late because if i am late my time waiting will be a waste, but I paste my thought on the praise to the most high to help me to win the race.
Hmm.... believe me Chris lose His weight in the race because I failed to train trying to catch up with the train and even though it rain i shake but I keep my pace while it rains, trying to catch up with the train, I was stained but I ignored the stain and focus on the gain , because the gain has all it takes to clean the stain.
But only to the people that endure the pain .
No pain, no gain , never Lost your gain to your pain. you have to keep running not to late because you have a train to catch even when you're not in haste.
Life is like a moving train we all journey trough it but to a different destination.
I pray we all get their safely and forget all our pain while rejoicing with the gain.
I look through pain and I see gain.
Look with your eyes and see with your heart.
I remain Chris.

FORMER PRESIDENT, JONATHAN MEET EX GOVERNOR OF DELTA STATE
WARRI- FORMER President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan met with ex-governor of Delta State and All Progressives Congress, APC, Delta South senatorial candidate, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, weekend, in Warri, Delta State, few days after the former launched his book, “My Transition Hours.”
![]() |
Good luck Jonathan |
They met at First Baptist Church, Warri, during the nuptials between Dr. Oroghene Oghenejobo, daughter of the owner of FENOG, a major player in the nation’s oil industry and Mr. Oluwafemi Ologun.
Dr. Uduaghan, gunning for Delta South senatorial seat on APC platform in the 2019 general election, wanted to contest the position in 2015 against the incumbent Senator James Manager, but in deference to Jonathan, he bowed to the forces that were up against him.
It was not clear when both leaders met last, but Uduaghan, who dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in August, was one of the very close allies of Dr. Jonathan until he lost power in 2015.
Uduaghan’s predecessor, Chief James Ibori, and other PDP leaders reportedly prevailed on Senator Manager to concede to Uduaghan, having served in the senate for practically 16 years, but he rejected all overtures.
"I won’t let you down, Urhoghide assures constituency."Senator Manager, who will be contesting for fifth tenure in 2019, is of Ijaw extraction like Jonathan. He refused to step aside for Uduaghan even after the 2015 episode, one of the reasons the former governor decamped to APC.
![]() |
Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan |
Though Ibori did not want Uduaghan to leave the PDP, he because he desired a “bigger playing field,” he moved to APC.
Recently, when elder statesman, Chief Edwin Clark, spoke on the desirability of Central senatorial district (Urhobo) allowing the state governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, to complete the eight -year tenure of North senatorial district (Anioma) under an unwritten power rotation arrangement in the state, some Urhobo leaders charged at him, asking why he did not counsel Senator Manager to drop his ambition for other tribes in South senatorial district.

No strength without practice, no understanding without knowing with an adequate observation, no power without knowledge, no success without sacrifices, no physical growth without food.
A sense and physical food of act is needed to keep everything in life and every achievable things in shape, because everything will loose its shape eventually when the secret behind it to grow is withdraw.
Something always require something to get something and to keep the growth of something In check and without something the thing will lose shape and value with time.
Here are few tips to THE FOOD OF LIFE:
Feed your life with the right food and watch it grow eventually.
Morning to you all

THE FOOD OF LIFE AND ITS ACHIEVE-ABLE EVENT TO GROW
Here are few tips to THE FOOD OF LIFE:
- It only takes learning to know, and constant practice in learning to growth stage by stages.
- It takes knowledge to be powerful, and a constant flow in learning to know is the growth to knowledge and power.
- It takes observation and evaluations of thought to understand, and a constant observation reading through things every-time, gives growth to our sense of understanding.
- It takes understandable act to produce wisdom, and the constant act in the production of wisdom, the wiser we become.
- It takes love to live happily, and the constant practical love we display the more we grow to love and live life happily.
- It takes ignorant to remain a fool, and how constant we ignore determine our growth gallantly as the president of all fools.
- It only takes self observation to discover our talent, and the more we put our gift and talent into practice the better and perfect we will become in becoming it.
Feed your life with the right food and watch it grow eventually.

DO WE RECEIVE BEFORE WE GIVE 2
Don't be too lazy to read it all and don't rush it.
I want to thank everybody who took their time to read my precious argument, I pray to God to give you all the ability to understand my argument .
Which of the law to human comes first?
1) The law to Receive and Give
2) The law to Give and Receive
And I gave an hint that, what we don't have we cant give which I belief everybody will agree with me on that.
Okay! truly both laws are made for each other and they flow in a cycle because they are the reason for themselves; but Receiving comes first before Giving.
This is why!
Human are created as a receiver because everything we have was received from God, because only God have the power to give without receiving. Human being can not be compare to Him in the aspect of giving first to receive laws.
The law to give to receive is the law God follow because he is our creator our father and our source and for we to become what He wants us to be we must receive from Him to fulfill our purpose of creation.
This make all human and all created things a receiver which leave us with the law of receive to give.
Note: The reason why we receive is to give and anything we receive and don't give Will hinder us from receiving another.
That is why it is important to give.
Life is define as a tube or a 🍼 container that receive something in other to give out something for another to come in, something must come in, either physically or spiritually for something to come out.
We receive knowledge and give through act and teaching. Our teachers receive from somewhere or from something to give us, and wen ever they are giving us teachings we are receiving and what ever they are giving us become a new birth of an existence in us for us to also have the abilities to give others.
Take for instance a child birth, A man receive from God and give a sperm to the woman, woman receive the sperm and give birth to a child through giving.
Every existence coming from receiving and everything you receive most be given because the purpose of receiving is to give, that is why we have to receive from God to give, be it money, life, knowledge, house, car anything at all, but its hard for us to understand that receiving comes first because most time what we receive is not visible and even when we receive physically we are always not aware we had it first.
A pipe can never bring out water with our receiving first and when the pipe receive, it gives and that process continue like that because that's what its made for, God is like an ocean and we are like a pipe when we give we receive.
It is said in the bible that it is blessed to give than to receive, in other word the bible is trying to say that we shouldn't worry about receiving because God is always in the position to give us, but we have to give that which we have receive from Him to have more because if you don't give that you have already receive its going to block the one that is coming.
If you don't drop what is in your hand you can't pick another.
I pray God give us knowledge, understand, and wisdom to know what we have already recieve for we to be able to give to get more and fulfill our purpose in life.
Ask for the blessing of God aboundantly to be the giver you are made to be, trust u have recieve from God cos everything you have come from wat He gives you, your talent, your gift, your health and your wealth so give today to be the tube that you're, the recievers are the relevant people in the world and they are people who always have something to offer cos they have recieve uniqueness within them and they have no choice than to give it out through their characteristic impert in life.
What you recieve determine what you give.
Stay blessed

DO WE RECEIVE BEFORE WE GIVE?
This has been the argument between me and my friends lately, I discover this secret lately and tabled it on an argument-able debate with my wise friends but the argument went all day.
What am about to reveal to you my social friends; This is an argument 90% of you will disagree with me but I hope to teach to your understanding, to understand the other side of Giving and Receiving, but before I continue i will like to have your opinions about the order of Giving and Receiving.
Please tell me the right between this!
Do we Receive before we Give or we Give before we Receive?
A) Receive to give
B) Give to receive
But let me give u an hint
You cant give what you don't have!
We all are learners I will be looking forward to your contribution.

THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THE GREAT BENIN KINGDOM
The palace of the Oba of Benin has stood for over 900 years with 40 Obas that have ascended the throne and till today, most of its traditional rites are still being respected and kept by the Benin Kingdom.
Many things are not allowed in the Oba of Benin palace and some of the forbidden things i will share with you below:
1.No one occupies more than one chair at the Oba of Benin Palace: it is a sacrilege and a sign of disrespect to hold more than one chair in the palace of the Oba of Benin. The Oba of Benin should seat higher than everyone, and only Him can seat in two chairs, seating above everyone. It will be seen as contesting with the Oba if you seat on two chairs.
2. No one is allowed to use an umbrella in court: no matter what the weather is like, no one is authorized to use an umbrella in the presence of the Oba of Benin even during festive periods.
3.Palm fruit is forbidden in The Palace: palm fruits which are popularly known as Banga is banned in the palace or from being brought close to the palace in any way. It is believed that if the Oba of Benin sees palm fruit, blood will flow in the land.
4.Dogs are not allowed in the palace: dogs are forbidden in the palace, and any dog that comes to the palace will die naturally or be killed.
5.Pointing of finger is banned in the palace: pointing of fingers is forbidden in the palace, and it is a sign of disrespect to point the finger at the Oba of Benin or His Chiefs. Also, the Oba of Benin does not point the finger at anyone either, for the Oba of Benin only points the finger at someone to bless or curse the person.
6.Whistleblowing is banned in the palace: using of a whistle is prohibited in the palace, because it is believed to be a medium of communication between the dead and the living, and someone blowing a whistle in court might alert a spirit that is unforgiving.
7.No black clothes allowed in the palace: under no condition should the Oba of Benin see black cloths as he is not supposed to mourn. Therefore no one wearing black clothing is allowed to the palace.
8.No man is allowed in the Royal women quarters: it is forbidden for any man to visit the Royal women quarters, where the Oba’s wives reside. No man, it does not matter if you are a relative or not,a man is not allowed in this quarter.
